The Green Concept and Awareness in Development

“Green Concept” means “environmental awareness/friendly” among the players in development, including construction industry, including the engineers, architects, town planners.
The professionals, including engineers, architects, town planners, must observe, inter alia,
  • Environmental Quality Act 1974, especially the necessities of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) – i.e.  Environmental Quality (Prescribed Activities) (Environmental Impact Assessment) Order 1987.
  • Hill land development and to comply the provisions, and guidelines made under, Land Conservation Act 1960.
  • Standardization – ISO 14001.
  • To identify environmental goals and implementing policies to achieve them.  It is also the standard of international measure for controlling pollution.  This needs the involvement of relevant professionals, such as engineer, architect, and town planners.  On other hand, managing environmental practices can also protect a company (the developer) against potential law suits, under
Environmental Quality Act 1974,
Land Conservation Act 1960,
Section 268 Penal Code (public nuisance),
Section 69, Local Government Act 1976 (pollution of stream within local authority’s area), and
Section 86, Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (nuisance)
